Kilt Camp 2023

Kilt Camp 2023

It was an exciting week!  I taught my first ever kilt camp in Omaha, NE this past July. My two students worked darned hard! One was actually working on two kilts! They both nearly finished their kilts by the end of the week.

I am so thankful for my mentor, Judith Sullivan, and for all those in my kiltmaking family! Thank you for your encouragement and support!

I’d like to give a great big shout out to Celtic Quilter of Omaha for letting me teach a non-quilting class in their classroom. They have an awesome  class space for quilters to come and sew.

Judy Fletcher, owner of Celtic Quilter and first-time kiltmaker, entered her kilt in the Sarpy County fair and won Best in Show: Textiles; and Best in Show textiles at the Nebraska State Fair.

Looking forward to Kilt Camp 2025… location and date TBD

I’m thinking about the Laurel Community Center… the end of September. It is in a beautiful setting…

Kilt camp is a place where a person can learn to make a kilt. Most people will get pretty far along in the kilt process by the end of the week. I have seen some finish sooner and some take two camps to finish one kilt. It’s a place for tartan lovers to be together and learn together.
